Since the beginning of the 20th century, art and fashion have been in constant dialogue. Paul Poiret, one of the first stars of French couture, was also one of the first to work or exchange ideas with artists such as Robert Delaunay, André Derain, Constantin Brancusi, Pablo Picasso and Raoul Dufy. Since then, the back-and-forth has never stopped, with one feeding off the other - and vice versa.
From Christian Dior to Iris van Herpen, from Azzedine Alaïa to Thebe Magugu, from Jean Paul Gaultier to Issey Miyake, via Chanel or Charles de Vilmorin, this presentation celebrates the powerful links between fashion and artistic creation, designers and artists, by proposing 17 sets of correspondences between a piece by a designer and a work or trend in modern and contemporary art.
