On October 23, 1985, Azzedine Alaïa was awarded two fashion Oscars from the French Federation of Couture, Ready-to-wear for Couturiers and Fashion Designers.
He received the Oscars for the "Special Jury Prize" and "Creator of the Year".

This ceremony took place at the Opéra Garnier and featured a number of attendees, including Frédéric Mitterrand as the master of ceremonies, with guests such as Jack Lang, and Catherine Deneuve. Yves Saint Laurent was also present and received an award alongside prominent designers such as Pierre Cardin and Sonia Rykiel.
