In a minimalist scenography showcasing the creations of the couturier against citrus colored backgrounds – it was to the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf that travelled the exhibition entitled "Alaïa, Azzedine Alaïa in the 21st century ", under the direction of Mark Wilson.
As it was the case at the Groningen Museum, the exhibition focused on the work of Alaïa in the 21st century, each room being articulated around a different material, amongst those used constantly by the couturier throughout the last decade: velvet, fur, wool, leather, cotton, animal skins, chiffon, and knit.
Striking juxtapositions and contrasts, an architectural precision and a voluptuous refinement, these dresses of a timeless elegance are universally acclaimed by the press to be the ultimate show of a great master.
