Mozart, The Age of Enlightenment: An Experience in Vienna

group exhibition

azzedine alaïa, albertina Museum PH. DR

To celebrate Mozart's year in 2006, the Albertina Museum in Vienna has brought together scores, musical excerpts from his early life, his travels, his commitments and contemporary art objects. For this occasion, the Albertina was adorned with a carpet by Franz West, and a huge installation by Klaus Pinter welcomed visitors.

Various artists participated in the exhibition and were able to express their gratitude and fervour for Mozart. Among them painters, filmmakers, musicians, but also great fashion designers. Visitors were able to admire a haute couture confrontation between the designers Azzedine Alaïa, Roberto Capucci, John Galliano (Dior) and 18th century costumes.

It is in the columned Pfeilerhalle, that Azzedine Alaïa exhibited two of his creations symbolising the Queen of the Night and introducing the world of the opera "The Magic Flute" with the corresponding musical quotes.
