"Bettina" exhibition view ph.DR

The Parisian gallery of fashion designer Azzedine Alaïa pays tribute to Bettina Graziani, known as Bettina. This young woman, who became a post-war muse, left Normandy for the French capital at the age of 18 in the hope of becoming a fashion illustrator. She meets a dazzling success and is very quickly solicited by the fashion press. After having been a model for Jacques Costet, she became the muse of the designer Jacques Fath and also worked with Hubert de Givenchy.

She gave up her career at its peak, but kept contacts with the designers who dressed her. Among them Balenciaga, Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent but also Azzedine Alaïa.

Bettina will be THE cover girl of France, multiplying the covers of the most prestigious magazines, such as Vogue. This exhibition retraces her life during her years as a model through a hundred photographs from 1945-1955, signed by the greatest names in photography such as Henri Cartier-Bresson, Irving Penn, Erwin Blumenfeld and Jean-Philippe Charbonnier, who made Bettina the most photographed French woman in the world.
